How should we, as Christians, react to the Coronavirus?

In response to the media hype and questions about the response appropriateness of government concerning COVID-19, we should step back and look at the facts and analyze before making any decisions, for sure.

And, we should use history to try to prepare for situations like this.

This is exactly what Trump and the rest of the world is trying to do.

Unfortunately the media is creating a panic, where leadership is trying to be objective and get in front of this virus to slow it's progress.

Is the response to it unprecedented? Is it overreacting?

Here's what I've discovered.

We have a couple epidemic/pandemic situations from recent enough history to prove what could happen in our global society. We can't use older scenarios as effectively because modern travel has made us a global village in many ways and we must treat the whole world as we would our village or city/state/country.

SARS was a deadly virus that had a high mortality rate but was not that widespread. It only killed a few hundred people worldwide.

H1N1 was not nearly as deadly but was very widespread and probably infected over a billion people. It killed almost 300,000 people worldwide!

COVID-19 started out in much the same way and was unknown in the early stages where reports and projections varied as knowledge increased.

What we do know is that you can have the virus for two weeks before manifesting any symptoms, and thereby infecting other people who then infect other people before you know you even have the virus. It could spread to many before the initial carrier even knows they have it.

The media is definitely doing what they always do by dramatizing and creating more to the story than is reality.

What Trump is doing is trying to get in front of it to slow it down before it gets completely out of control. He reacted quickly because it was unknown and he did it out of caution for what it could have been and still could be.

I have watched a number of his statements about it and he specifically said we're giving it 15 days to slow the spread. That's why we have a lock-down and asking people to stay home for two weeks. He said we would then re-assess the situation.

Our economy will take a hit, but we're very strong and will bounce back.

Can the global economy recover? Maybe, maybe not, but the reaction whether it was over the top or not, was based on trying to stop it in it's tracks before it killed hundreds of thousands of people.

Here's a couple recent posts I made on Facebook regarding Coronavirus:

IS IT FAKE NEWS??? Are "they" just fooling us and it's not even real?

I remember when the Pulse club in Orlando was destroyed by a Muslim. I actually had people tell me that it was fake and the whole thing was staged.

Well, I live in Orlando and work at a hospital where the victims were being treated.

Even after explaining that, people still argued that it was fake.

Sounds insane, right? But I'm not kidding!

Is CoronaVirus fake?

NO IT IS NOT. It's real. And, while the despicable people in power definitely want to use it for their own agendas, it is real and should be taken seriously!

How do we "trust God" in times like this?

I hear many people saying, "We have to just trust God", while they don't bother to maintain due diligence in protecting themselves and others.

That kind of behavior is "putting God to the test" and almost mocking Him in a way.

We don't fill a pit with poisonous snakes and jump in to "prove" God.

Just like Paul when he was bitten by the snake and did not die as the locals expected.

He WAS NOT putting God to the test PURPOSELY, he was just going about his business and accidentally got bit.

There's a big difference!

Trust God while you're doing your best to be safe and diligent in protecting yourself and others. Don't unnecessarily risk because you want to prove how much you trust God.

Luke 4:9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:

'He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,' 11 and, 'In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"

12 And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.'"

Do NOT tempt God!

When we understand prophecy, we know that this is just one of the "pestilences" that Jesus said would be a sign of His coming and the end of the world.

It's not something we should panic over, but we should not trivialize it either.

And, the global elites definitely try to use any situation to their benefit, just like the Democrats are trying to insert their "green new deal" and other agenda items into the stimulus bill Trump is trying to pass to help the economy recover more quickly.

One thing I have to say is that since I work at a hospital I am privy to inside information that most don't see, and I know that we are testing as fast as possible and finding that almost 10% of all inpatients tested are testing positive. We don't know where this is going to go yet!

So far, the mortality rate is low, but don't forget H1N1... low mortality rate but hundreds of thousands died due to the rate of infection. That's what we're waiting to see when it pans out.

The regular flu does not take 2 weeks to incubate, so it's really not a valid comparison in that respect.

And, this is definitely leading up to the state of the world where they will allow the antichrist to gain control, but we're not there yet. We know there are other events that must take place before he rises to power. But, this type of situation is definitely preparing the world for that scenario.
